Driving Adoption of Electric Vehicles

It came as a surprise to me that by 2035 we won’t be able to buy new gas-powered vehicles anymore. This is the target date set by the government of Canada to massively increase the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), as part of its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

I’m not sure why I was so surprised. I guess 12 years doesn’t seem so far away, and it got me thinking, how will this actually work in practice? What will the shift from gas stations to charging stations look like? What happens if your residence only has street parking?

This is the challenge that a local company Tap and Go EV is working on.

We’re pleased to be working on designing the vehicle charging experience of the future, in collaboration with Tap and Go EV, BC Hydro, SFU Faculty of Engineering, and other municipalities. We look forward to sharing our progress as this unfolds in 2023.

Also in the EV space this year, we worked with CleanBC, a BC Government, cross-Ministry team that is passionate about executing on a strategy to lower climate-changing emissions by 40% by 2023.

The CleanBC team is leading programs that help everyone take action to be more energy efficient, whether that’s buying an EV or energy efficient home improvements.

We led UX/UI work in collaboration with CleanBC for the EV and Better Homes websites. If you are in the market for an EV or embarking on home renovations, check out the kinds of rebates on offer.
